Vision
Our long term aim is to secure a dedicated professional Theatre Ensemble employing actors with Intellectual disabilities.
As well as to continue our outreach programmes in health education and the community in general.
Shadowbox Theatre Company was formed in 1998, when it galvanised the recognition and need for high quality professional arts work for people who have limited or no access to mainstream arts in Ireland.
Shadowbox works predominantly, but not exclusively, in the following areas:
Ensemble of actors with Intellectual Disabilities
Providing training in theatre and creating professional theatre productions with actors with intellectual disabilities and people who live with Mental Health issues.
Shadowbox have worked over the past ten years with people with intellectual disabilities and have firmly come to believe that theatre and creativity projects can help to serve as a vehicle for heightening awareness of areas of concern and issues facing these groups within our community. As well as challenging perceptions of disability from the community at large
